Welcome
From an early age onwards I have been fascinated by our "Brain" and questions like "Who are we? What determines our behavior? Why do we live the way we live? ”. I would like to inspire other people to search for answers to these questions and bridge the gap between neuroscience, psychiatry and society. After my studies in "Psychobiology" and "Brain and Cognitive Sciences" I did my PhD research in the neuroscience of psychiatric disorders, stress and reward systems in our brain (see my thesis here). After 15 years in science, I would like to share my knowledge in society, increase mental wellbeing and help people with mental health disorders. Therefore I continued my education and graduated from the master “Clinical Psychology” and currently work as a therapist (including cognitive behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and mindfulness) in the mental health sector. Currently I combine my work as a therapist and neuroscientist with outreach to society, as a public speaker and (workshop) facilitator. Topics include the origins of human behavior, happiness, stress, burnouts, psychiatric disorders and how the brain works. Outreach activities in the past have been done at several locations including schools, cultural institutions, companies, universities and in the healthcare sector. In my work I connect my fascination with my great passions for education, culture, theater, yoga, music and dance.
My focus areas are:
stress & burnout / positive psychology / (neuroscience of) developmental disorders (like autism and dyslexia)/ (neuroscience of) psychiatric disorders (psychosis) / neuroscience and education/ functioning of the brain/ hatha yoga/ mindfulness.
I am available for (individual / group) sessions, lectures, workshops or training in these areas. Questions? Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need more information via info@mindlife.nl.
